Welcome to the Potsdam Teacher Center

Established in 1984 as part of a statewide initiative, the Potsdam Teacher Center is one of over 130 Teacher Resource and Computer Training Centers created by the New York State Legislature and funded through the New York State Education Department.

Our center is dedicated to providing educators with the resources and ongoing professional development needed to foster excellence in teaching. We collaborate closely with the educators of the Potsdam Central School District, parents, local businesses, community members, and higher education institutions to support professional growth and enhance instructional practices.

The primary goal of the Potsdam Teacher Center is to amplify the impact of local professional development efforts while building the capacity to implement meaningful reform. Our focus is on delivering tailored, ongoing support for the instructional staff of the Potsdam Central School District, from Pre-K through grade 12. Here, innovative teaching methods are shared, current educational issues are explored, and the latest research on educational practices is disseminated. We also serve as a forum for idea exchange and a resource hub for educators.

Our professional development activities are designed to promote excellence in education.

In-district offerings are listed in the District Catalog, accessible via your Frontline account, where you can view and register for upcoming opportunities. These offerings are specifically tailored to meet the needs and expertise of the Potsdam School District staff.

While regional and statewide professional development opportunities are valuable, our focus at the Potsdam Teacher Center is on providing the follow-through support needed at the local level to ensure sustained, systematic change. This includes:

  • Ongoing professional development to support district and building-specific initiatives, often through professional learning communities and/or mentoring.
  • Supplemental supplies and materials to enhance implementation at the local level, supporting innovative classroom projects and curriculum ideas.

If you have a curriculum project or professional development opportunity in mind, or if you’d like to view and register for upcoming offerings, please log into your Frontline account and click on the ‘District Catalog.’ For further assistance, feel free to contact the Potsdam Teacher Center Co-Directors, Joanna Cross and Jessica Hunter.

We look forward to supporting your professional journey!
