Potsdam High School Valedictorian
– Class of 2013
We are proud to announce and
congratulate the Valedictorian for the Class of 2013, Kate Hildreth. Kate is the daughter of Joe Hildreth and
Caroline Downing, and earned a G.P.A. of 97.99.
She has been a student at Potsdam Central School since kindergarten.
At Potsdam High School, Kate
maintains a rigorous course load, challenging herself with advanced
classes. This year, Kate took an
economics class at Clarkson and earned a 4.0.
In addition to academics, Kate is deeply involved in extra-curricular
activities. This year she serves as
President of National Honor Society, and Vice President of Environmental
Club. Kate is also involved with
Potsdam’s Student Council and Key Club.
She is a member of Potsdam’s Science Olympiad team, competing at the
state contest three years in a row.
Kate has always been heavily
involved in athletics, participating in varsity soccer, basketball, and
track. This year, she served as captain
for the varsity basketball and track teams.
Kate also enjoys music, as she plays saxophone for Potsdam’s Wind
Ensemble and Jazz Band, and takes private piano lessons. In the summer, Kate works as a lifeguard for
the Potsdam Recreation Department.
Kate has been accepted to SUNY
Potsdam, SUNY Binghamton, and Dartmouth College. She plans to attend Dartmouth College in the
fall.

Potsdam High School Salutatorian
– Class of 2013
We are pleased to announce Rhea
LaFleur as the Class of 2013 Salutatorian and congratulate her on this achievement. Rhea earned a G.P.A. of 97.89 through
accelerated study and is graduating after 3 years of high school. Rhea is the daughter of Ronald LaFleur and
Laura Goshko.
While achieving academic success
in all areas, Rhea has always been passionate about music and has benefitted
from Potsdam High School’s music programs including Canta Sera, NYSSMA choir
and solos, Area All State, All County Jazz and Choir, as well as the Drama
Club. Extending into the community and
onto the internet, Rhea has written and recorded a collection of songs and
composed background music. She has sung
at many local events, performing at the Potsdam Summer Festival and singing the
Canadian and US national anthems at Clarkson hockey games.
Rhea played soccer on the Junior
Varsity and Varsity squads. She has also
been active in many student clubs and organizations such as the National Honor
Society, National French Honor Society, Latin Club and Model United Nations.
Rhea has been accepted to the University
of Southern California, Boston University, Emerson College, New York University
and has been named a Muse Honors Scholar at Hunter College in New York City.
Rhea plans to attend the University of Southern California.
